Talisman III of VIII
Gluttony
You wanted more.
So you swallowed.
Everything
that promised
to quiet you.
Powder.
Pills.
Bodies.
Praise.
Anything
you could put
inside yourself
and mistake
for relief.
At first
you only took
enough
to feel full.
Then enough
to feel nothing.
Then enough
to feel anything
at all.
You tore through
whatever was soft.
Chewed it down
to bone.
Licked your fingers
clean
and reached
for another.
You called it hunger.
But hunger stops
when it is fed.
Yours only learned
new names.
Need.
Relief.
One more.
Just once.
Again.
Again.
Again.
Until you were
all mouth.
All teeth.
All wanting.
And still,
you begged
more.
